Mossback Bulls Gone Wild Vol. 2

This film is Team Mossback’s 2005 elk season in Utah and Nevada.  This outfitter and his team of guides and spotters spend a ton of time in the field searching for giant bulls as is evidenced by this film.

Utah is catching Arizona with the size of their bulls and Mossback has some of the biggest around on film.  The film starts off with some of their scouting footage with giant bulls in the velvet in their summer range.

The first portion of the film is archery hunting with several up close and personal encounters and several bow kill scenes.  The Utah governors tag hunter then spends numerous days hunting for big bulls with a bow.  He passes up numerous bulls and finally on the last day of the hunt, switches to a rifle and kills a 420 gross bull.  The shot is missed on film, but this is truly a giant and it’s a site to see him alive.

An excellent bow hunt is then shown with the hunter and guides calling in then arrowing a 380 gross P&Y bull.  The hunter provides some good lessons in patience waiting until the bull has turned to leave before drawing and making the shot.

The new rifle typical state record is taken on film and this bull is a pig.

In all there are 38 hunts, although the kill shot is not filmed on several of the hunts.  The majority of these bulls are on public land, although in limited entry areas where they receive very little pressure and get a chance to grow huge.

If you enjoy elk hunting, the footage of these huge bulls will keep you up at night.  There is some shaky footage, and missed shots, but the sheer size of the animals on film makes up for the quality of the film. If you’ve hunted big elk before, especially in the rut, you know first hand it’s tough to stay steady when the bull of a lifetime is snorting and grunting headed in your direction.

This film is a must purchase for you die hard elk hunters out there.
